What is the Youth Section?

About Us

We are dedicated to creating welcoming spaces where young people can inspire each other and encounter anthroposophy. In the past year (2024-25) a new wave of young people have become active in organizing and collaborating, and our organizing team is now more than 15 co-workers from across the United States.

This expanding group of young people pursuing meaningful work in the world is working together to build a network of mutually supportive initiatives and individuals that serves to empower one another and connect us to our future collaborators and friends.

Our Current Work

In 2024 there were two conferences organized by the North American Youth Section, as well as workshops, study groups, art initiatives, and service projects, each seeking to provide a container for meaningful encounters for spiritually striving young people. These gatherings serve as vessels to meet other young people, facilitate collaboration and provide impetus for creative, responsible action in the world. Groups have formed in study of Steiner’s texts including the Philosophy of Freedom, How to Know Higher Worlds, and The Threefold Social Order, giving foundation to powerful initiatives that have continued to grow.

““I feel like the people who come to youth conferences are people who are not afraid to think. People who have curiosities, seek connection with others through those thought processes. People with missions. Very driven people.”

Anthroposophy in Context

Anthroposophy is a non-religions spiritual stream which found its form in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in the early 20th century. Centered originally in large part around the work of Rudolf Steiner, anthroposophy today informs movements from agriculture to academia, the arts, natural sciences, social and political forms, and more.

The Youth Section in North America is a regional branch of the Global Youth Section, itself one of the 12 sections of the School of Spiritual Science. There are many opportunities to make connections across this worldwide network. If you’re interested in travel, reach out!
